vSIp helping major UK charities make better use of
their IT investment
Volunteer membership
There are two ways of joining our team at vSIp:
Full membership
This is intended for volunteers with recent large programme IT
experience wishing to donate 1-2 days per week over 2-4 months of the year. If you want to join a team of
fellow professionals, working in a relaxed environment and contributing real value to
worthwhile causes then we would welcome hearing from you.
We ask for a payment on joining of £10 to cover our administration costs and the production of your
vSIp business card – remember we do not charge our client charities anything except necessary
project related expenses such as travel. We also ask that you have ready access to broadband internet
to support our home based co-operative working tools.
Our model is to assign a core of existing members to each project and then to fill any vacancies
or special skills gaps with new volunteers on a project by project basis. Rather than build our own
database of volunteers for this purpose, we seek such volunteers through existing organisations
such as the Cranfield Trust and it4communities.
Our vacancies vary according to our project workload and we have a forward planning horizon of
typically 6-10 weeks.
Any current opportunities are listed in the opportunities page of this website which also provides
information on how to apply. Such volunteers are assigned associate membership for the duration of
the project. There is no membership fee for this.
Please note that work on certain projects will require a Criminal Records Bureau check.
Where this is necessary, we will seek your prior agreement to this process.
